Frequently Asked Questions
Why is my furnace blowing cold air?
A failed ignitor, flame sensor, gas valve, or heating element can all cause cold air, as can a thermostat that is not calling for heat. Our no-heat page walks through the diagnosis in order.
Why does my furnace click but never light?
That clicking is usually the ignitor trying to fire. When it is cracked or worn, gas never gets a spark and the furnace shuts down for safety. It is usually a same-visit fix.
Why does my furnace keep short-cycling?
Restricted airflow, a dirty flame sensor, an overheating furnace, or thermostat settings can all cause short-cycling. A dirty filter is the simplest cause, and the first one we check.
How often should I change my furnace filter?
Check it monthly in winter and change it when it is visibly dirty. Homes with pets or dust may need it more often than the box suggests.
How long should a furnace last?
Most gas furnaces last 15 to 20 years in Middle Tennessee. Regular filter changes and an annual tune-up push a system toward the long end of that range.
What counts as a furnace emergency?
No heat in freezing weather, a gas smell, a burning smell, or water leaking from the equipment. If you are unsure, call us, we would rather you ask.
Should I repair or replace my furnace?
Under about 12 years with a single-part failure, repair is usually the smarter money. Past 15 years with frequent breakdowns, or any cracked heat exchanger, replacement is the honest conversation.
Do you service my town?
We cover Springfield (37172) and Robertson County, including Greenbrier, White House, Cross Plains, Portland, Adams, Cedar Hill, Coopertown, and Orlinda.
